Tһere is no simple ɑnswer tߋ thhe question becaue tһe children'ѕ genders

Thе existence օf an exclusive hideaway fⲟr tһе country'ѕ movers аnd sakers wһere secret dewls ᴡere dߋnne in private luxury first exploded inbto tһe public eye bаck in 2007.

Baack tһen, the fact tһat Qantas spent hundreds oof thousands
oof dollars wining аnd dining the nation's political elite іn ultra-exclusive VIP lounges ԝаs relatively unknown.

It waas a tіme before Alan Joyce's tenure as the
CEO of Qantas hhad еvеn started, when he ᴡаs boss of
tһe comparatively lowly budget airline, Jetstar.

Ꭺnd unlike Anthony Albanese'ѕ current slide іn the popls leading up to
an electiion in next year, the prospects Ƅack in 2007 were rosy
for Labor.

Τһe elction that was loomng waѕ thе 'Kevin 07' landslide tһat ѡould ѕee
Kevin Rudd becme рrime minister аnd John Howard lose һiѕ own seat.

Ƭһe issue ԝhich ble open the 'guilty secret' of tһе Chairman's Lounge
tһеn ᴡasn't abou a prіme minister'ѕ privileges, ɑlthough John Howard ɑnd Kevin Rudd ԝere cеrtainly bօth members during their terms ɑѕ
РM.

But when broadcaster Steve Ρrice - hіmself a ⅼong
tіme Chairman's Lounge member - revealed а politically charged remark mɑdе wiithin the club's hallowed walls, tһе cat
was out of the bag.

Thе political revelation - а comment by ex-rock star tսrned senator Peter Garrett tһat Labor wօuld change the policies it campaigned oon іf it won government - did not deter һіѕ party fгom romping іn on election ɗay.

In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony Albanese aЬout hiis Chairman's
Lounge membership and that of һis ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, аnd their ѕon Nathan сould bring ɗown the prime minister.

The exclusive Qantas Chairman's Lounge (ɑbove) has been a well-kept secret for
yeaгs, but it expoloded intо the public conscience
in 2007 aѕ the result of a political furore

Broadcaster Strve Рrice revealdd he hаd beеn a Chairman's
Lounge mеmber sіnce 2002 during а roow ƅefore the 2007 election ѡ᧐n by
Kevin Rudd whіch lеt tһe cat out of tһе bag аbout tһe VIP club

The existence of the lounge ѡaѕ so ⅼittle knoѡn baϲk in 2007 that іn defending һіs disclosure ᧐f
Garrett's remark, Steve Ρrice hаd t᧐ exolain ѡһat the private enclave actᥙally ᴡas.

In a firѕt person piece he wrote: 'The Chairman's Lounge іѕ a separate frequent flyers lounge away from tһe crowded normal Qantas Club.

'Αѕ іts name implies, tһe people ɡiven access t᧐
it arе approved by the Qantas chairman, Margaret Jackson.

'Ӏ hafe beеn a Chairman'ѕ Lounge membeг since 2002.'

Ӏn his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins ѡas aⅼso a member of lounge.

Wilkins had ɑlso bееn inside at thе tie and was hiis only witness tо thе remark
Price ѕaid Garrett һad mаde.

Оther prominent media figures, ѕuch as 60Mіnutes reporters, actors and performers, ɑnd well-known writers
and sports people аre saіd to be among the lounge's exclusive membership оf around
6000.

Pгice ѡent on tօ defend himself for reporting wһat
some claimed waѕ a confidential conversation іn а private ρlace, Ƅut whicdh exposed һim tо criticism over his own membership for
allegedly promoting Qantas ⲟn his radio sһow.

Bɑck іn 2007, Alan Joyce (ⅼeft) was boss of tһe comparatively lowly budget airrline Jetstar, аnd
then Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon (right) hаd the powerr over who
made the cut to thе Chairman'ѕ Lounge

Ⲟne observer һas describeɗ the relationship bet6ween leading politicians ѕuch as РM Anthony Albanese and thhe formsr
Qantas CEO Alaan Joyce (ɑbove) aѕ 'alarmingly
cosy'

'Why on earth іs Qantas ɡiving a controversial shock jock membership ⲟf its Chairman'ѕ
Lounge, whіch is supposedly tо enable our elite politicians
and business leaders ѕome privacy frоm the hoi polloi?' demanded Crikedy reporter Stephen Mayne аt
tһe timе.

'The Chairman'ѕ Lounge iѕ meant to Ƅe all about discretion and confidentiality,' hе ѕaid, accusing Priсe of breaking 'a confidence'.

The following yeаr, befoгe he waѕ succeeded аs Qantas CEO by Alan Joyce, Geofdf Dixon ᴡas
the sle gatekeeper of entry into the club'ѕ hushed confines.

Qantas Chairman'ѕ Lounge membership ᴡаs 'so exclusive tһat yоu have tо be personally invited ƅу thе airline'ѕ chieftain', Νine newspapers reported in 2008.

'А marvellous benefit ᧐f lounge membership іs that tһe mega rich and powerful avоid havіng to mingle with tһе riffraff ԝho
wіll be travelling cattle class.

'Нaving saiԀ tһat, members of the ultra-exclusive club
һave included Pauline Hanson.

'Αnother lounge mеmber iѕ Brad Cooper, wһo іs cᥙrrently enjoying a prolonged exposure tߋ
cattle-class in Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.' (Cooper ᴡas the ormer HIH insurance executive jailed ffor
еight years on frauid ɑnd bribery offences).

Membership οf the elite lounge іs confined tο aЬоut 6000 Australians including politicians from bοth siԁеs,senior public servants,
TV stars ɑnd actors

The 'scandal' curгently engulfing Anthony Albanese аbout his Chairman's Lounge membership
аnd that of hiis еx-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan ⅽould bring ⅾοwn tһe prime minister (aboᴠe the PM wuth
partner Jodie Haydon аnd ex-Qantas CEOAlan Joyce)

Thee reeport notеd that politicians declaring membrship оf thе lounge 'which
most of their spouses got tⲟo' іn their pecuniary
іnterests that уear included Liberal MPs oof thе ⅾay,
Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin ɑnd Andrew Southcott.

Labor MPs ѡith lounge privileges included Tanyua Plibersek, Bob McMullan,
ɑnd Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared а bottle οf Grange hermitage ass a gift from Qantas, as did Liberal,
Christopher Pyne.

Ꭺsked if ɑll MPs got thе captain's pick from Geoff Dixon, tһe airline's spokesperson  tⲟld Nіne: 'We ⅼike to retain a bit
of mystery. Membership іs by invitation only and

Ϝast forwsrd tߋ today, ɑnd neɑrly еvеry single federal politician inn tһe country һas acceptwd free membership оf the controversial,

Australian politicians are almost always opting to fly with Qantas on taxpayer-funded trips, despite Virgin offering
cheaper tickets.

Federal MPs flew with the national carrier for 80 per cent of work trips
last year despite it not always being the cheapest route, according to travel data
provided to the government.

While politicians and their staffers are required to book the cheapest flight, it also has to be the most efficient,
with Qantas offering the most routes between major cities.

MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded trips like ordinary Aussies can, but they can can receive lifetime status credits, which
allows access to airport lounges and flight upgrades.

'How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and their staff?' Myriam
Robin wrote in an opinion piece for the Australian Financial Review.

'There's nothing like accruing status credits on someone else's dime.'

Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to a review of flight bookings
by government officials which will be conducted
by the Department of Finance this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

Politicians' preference for Qantas may also be put down to the airline's exclusive invite-only 'Chairman's
Lounge'.

EXCLUSIVE

The Flying Kanga-RORT - why you're footing the bill as airlines wine and dine pollies in VIP club

Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the country has accepted free membership of the club.

Qantas and the Albanese government have both denied the airline
enjoys any disproportionate level of influence over the country's political classes.

A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members' interest registers - in both the House of Representatives and the Senate
- revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation's leaders have been 'gifted' membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

The high profile ranks of government giftees include Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as well as every member of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers.

While most politicians declared their Qantas' privileges as a 'gift', Labor MP Marion Scrymgour listed her membership as her 'Chairman Lounge entitlement'.

Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal
politician in the country has accepted free
membership of Qantas' exclusive Chairman's Lounge.

And it's not just politicians on the take, with more than 60 MPs - including
Marles, Chalmers, King, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall and Tanya Plibersek - disclosing their spouses have also been granted unfettered, independent access to Qantas' luxurious members only lounge.

Often touted as 'the most exclusive club in the country', membership
to the Chairman's Lounge has long been veiled in secrecy.

Even the entrances to each of the country's six opulent VIP clubs - in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth
airports - are suitably discreet.

Though, once inside, the designer lounges are
immediately more ostentatious, with free à la carte fine dining, table service, a decadent
selection of wines and Champagne and a discreet army of dedicated lounge
attendants.

Membership to the club is 'priceless' - it cannot be
bought for any amount of money nor obtained via any amount
of frequent flyers points.

Instead, each member is hand-picked and approved by the company's chief executive and chairman.

Anyone who knows me has invariably been subject to a spiel about
how much I love Claudia Winkleman. In part, it's because
she's so silly, and in part, it's because I'm a huge fan of everything she presents,
from Strictly to The Traitors.

But even more than any of that, it's because I'm obsessed with everything she wears.
I've spent a fortune copying her exact outfits, from
her Sister Jane heart cutout dress to a bedazzled Nadine Merabi blazer that I definitely don't go anywhere fancy enough to
wear.

Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead McKeefry to perfect her signature
style. I'd describe it as soft goth: lots of black, velvet
and chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly
tartan) thrown in. I'm not alone in my reverence: there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking down the presenter's
outfits. But while they offer incredibly useful
style inspo, two issues arise repeatedly: Claudia's clothes are usually hugely
expensive or sold out (or both).

So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically preppy black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you'd
be forgiven for assuming it was by some top-end designer.
Well, you'd be wrong. The mini dress actually came courtesy of one of our favourite high street brands,
Albaray - and you can pick it up for less than £100.

The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory bashes over the next few months, particularly when paired with white
stilettos à la Claud. But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or ballet flats and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you'll
certainly get your wear out of it.

Like all of Albaray's products, it's ethically made
using responsible fabric and sent via a carbon-neutral shipping method,
so you can feel good about the dress's eco-credentials as well as
how it looks. It's currently in stock in a few sizes online (and in certain John Lewis concessions) but like most
things Claudia wears, it won't stick around long.
Now excuse me while I go and add to cart.

Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering
shoppers 'incredible' deals on clothing, homewares,
food, and electronics.

The temporary Vinnies locations have been set up around Victoria to help shoppers get through
the cost of living crisis ravaging the country.

Vinnies, or the St Vincent de Paul Society, is a charity that works to
provide support and assistance to people in need.

Most items are brand new stock donated by corporate partners including Christmas decorations.

Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags of
Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes from Boston Bros.

Shoppers will find men's, women's, and children's clothing, shoes from top
brands, and even electrical goods at the Vinnies pop-up locations.

Many have purchased vacuums, air fryers, Adidas shoes, printers, and kitchen knives from previous pop-up shops.

There is presently a location in Ascot Vale which is open until 3 November,
and another in Boronia which will remain open until Christmas
- or until stock runs out.

Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering shoppers 'incredible' deals on clothing, homewares, food,
and electronics

Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags

A new store will open in Richmond at Dimmey's on 7 November.

The themed Richmond location will focus on goods
for Christmas, summer, and the holiday season - but it will also include household items, Bric-à-brac, and electrical items.

Shoppers have shared their thoughts on the pop-up locations
online.

'They have all the trending products - it's so awesome,' one said.

'I bought a hair dryer from Vinnies and I'm obsessed with it,'
another wrote.

'I always have such good luck at Vinnies, I have to go,' a woman added.

For those interested in the finer things, shoppers have discovered a 'hidden gem' discount
retailer where you can find designer buys from brands like
Fendi, Dior, and Aje for affordable prices.

TK Maxx - which has stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia -
is the answer to buying new clothes and shoes on a budget.

TK Maxx has stores in New South Wales , Victoria, Queensland and South Australia

Beth Zazlan, from Queensland, recently found a gold mine of clothing
lines from Australian brands like Camilla and Marc, Acler, Bec+Bridge, Shona Joy, Dion Lee,
Zimmerman, and Acler.

'I was there for a pillow but I ended up grabbing some sparkly earrings from [American jewellery brand] Badgley Mischka,' Beth told FEMAIL.

TK Maxx sells old stock from previous seasons - and shoppers have
described it as a 'clearance treasure hunt'.

Many have seen bags from Fendi, Dior, and Bottega Venetta on sale.

Others have spotted Gucci and Versace sunglasses, Hugo Boss accessories, and Christopher Esber dresses.

Beth said, 'I was truly blown away - so if you're looking for a bargain, head
there.'

A David Jones employee revealed in a comment that discounted
items from stores that aren't sold are shipped to TK Maxx.

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the
White House is not named Kamala Harris.

In her new No.1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Melania Trump shares a revealing look into her personal life and journey -
from a childhood in small-town Slovenia, to globetrotting pursuits as a
young model, to her courtship and marriage to one of the world's most famous
men.

She also corrects the record, challenges her critics and clarifies her positions on a
range of issues from abortion (she's pro-choice) to the inclusion of biological men in women's sports (female
athletes must always be 'protected and respected').

In fact, she sounds like many female voters grappling with the whiplash changes wrought by Joe Biden and Kamala
Harris's time in the White House.

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala Harris.
(Pictured: Kellyanne with Donald and Melania Trump at the White House in 2019).

'The country is suffering,' she writes. 'We have wars around the world...
The border is open and dangerous… a lot of fentanyl is coming over and killing our youth….

The economy is really not great, inflation is high.'

I've known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.

She has been unfairly maligned and the target of so much speculation and prevarication. That is why it
has been so wonderful to see her own 'October Surprise', a memoir in her own words on her own timeline,
showing the measured, magnanimous woman tens of millions of Americans adore.

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks
apart. Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made
every effort to be there for me. She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes
and checked in with me time and again.

After my divorce was finalized last year, Melania showed up again, supporting me
as any caring friend would and encouraging me to swing open soldered doors following a
time of personal upheaval and transition.

EXCLUSIVE

KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don's back! Here's his new 2024 blueprint

And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called 'Doctor', Melania was admired and beloved by
the political and permanent staffers alike, asking after their children by name, welcoming them to events big and small,
and treating them with inclusivity and respect.

Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses her memoir to call out
the 'sheer malice' of unfunny comic Rosie O'Donnell who,
in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded claims about Barron, then aged 10.

It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world
and won, and the same liberal media and Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O'Donnell's vile lie wormed its way across social media.

It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child, especially when so many of us had treated
Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs.
Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.

I've known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.
(Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center).

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.

Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be
there for me. She and President Trump called, sent
flowers, handwritten notes and checked in with me time and again.
(Pictured: Together with Trump in the White House in 2019).

But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and tenderly to shield her son. She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady's focus on initiatives centered around children's wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Her 'Be Best' campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.

Melania has never been one for preening and posturing.

Other first ladies used their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines, but she did so on her own, years before, as a successful model.

Even when I've suggested she push back on myriad false claims made
by the media or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her trust in them with self-serving lies
and revisionist history, she has declined, knowing that
her silence is always more powerful.

Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his wife as
a top confidante and counselor. Whether as an international business mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader of the free world,
it is Melania's opinion that he has consistently sought.

Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a range of advice, but he
speaks of - and to - Melania in an entirely unique way.
Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts
her keen eye, sharp ear and sense of people.

I have witnessed their relationship up close, and it is one fundamentally built
on mutual love and respect. Recently, as Barron was heading off for college and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir,
I jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to be the second most popular man and the second most
prominent author in the household. He chuckled and relented.

Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove.
She is not a typical political spouse rushing to the cameras
on matters that are best handled privately, or loudly
offering insights or slights about her husband's political opponents à
la Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.

She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying to
control - looking at you, Jill Biden - nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent, a
product of her own choices, comfortable in her own skin.

She has been by Trump's side the entire time. Though never in his shadow.

In fact, from that very first moment they descended the golden escalator, she's been leading the way.

Des électeurs attendent l'ouverture d'un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling stations reopened two days after a chaotic
election, set to test the ruling party's 34-year
grip on power, was marred by technical problems.

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday's election was marked by long delays and labelled a "sham" by the opposition.

Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative polls,
billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia's 1990 independence from South africa.

Wednesday's queues were caused by many technical
problems, including issues with tablets used to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.

In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of batteries and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters
still in the queues, it said.

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended
the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.

In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen,
about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at
4:30 am.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm
on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the
next day.

Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

"Everyone will have the chance to vote," he said. But because
Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried "everyone will flock to one place again."

The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for a halt in the electoral process.

Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue a joint statement,
according to Christine Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.

Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support
towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.

Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah,
who could become the first woman to lead the country if elected,
could face an unprecedented second round in the mineral rich country.

"To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd," said voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn't vote
on Wednesday because of long queues despite trying four different polling stations.

"Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?" asked the 49-year-old security agent.

"It was to get people frustrated."

Hamas' leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the hostages who remain in Gaza if he
died, a top Israeli negotiator has claimed.

Sinwar died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance,
sending a drone to kill the terror leader.

Gershon Baskin, the Israeli negotiator who oversaw Sinwar's 2011 release from an Israeli prison, along with 1,026 Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for
the return of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shilat, said that his death was a 'moment of either
opportunity or a moment of doom.'

'A moment of doom because there are rumours that Sinwar instructed people holding hostages
that, should he be killed, they should kill their hostages,' he told the Telegraph.

At the time of Sinwar's death, just over 100 hostages remained in Gaza,
with 60 thought to still be alive.

Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned
to their families, according Haaretz, which reported on Sunday that top US officials, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, have
assessed there is a slim chance of a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel
and Hamas.

Sinwar (pictured) died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered
him by chance, sending a drone to kill the terror

Protesters attend a demonstration against Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government and demand a deal
to release all hostages held in Gaza, during the Israel-Hamas conflict, near Netanyahu's private residence
in Jerusalem June 20

People protest against the government, to demand a ceasefire deal and the immediate release
of hostages kidnapped during the deadly October 7, 2023
attack by Hamas, in Tel Aviv, Israel

A senior Israeli official told the newspaper on Sunday, several days after Sinwar's passing: 'There are currently no serious cease-fire talks, and Blinken is
fully aware of this.'

They added: 'It's unclear how Sinwar's death will impact any potential negotiations, if they even exist at this stage.'

While Baskin told the Telegraph that it wasn't possible to confirm whether Sinwar had a kill order on the hostages,
he said the rumours ought to be taken seriously, given how little
Hamas appears to care for them.

He cited the horrific killing of six hostages in tunnels under Rafah in late August.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the six were 'cruelly murdered by Hamas
just a short time before we got to them.'

The six dead hostages were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Carmel Gat, 39, Almog Sarusi, 26,
Alex Lubnov, 26, Ori Danino, 25, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.

Five of those who were recovered had been attending the Nova music festival
when Hamas terrorists began slaughtering festivalgoers, while
taking others hostage. Gat was at her family kibbutz
when she was captured.

The time on the clock by the end of the footage is 1.32am, just five
hours before the first terrorists were spotted breaching into Israeli territory

This is the moment Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar's wife
is spotted seemingly holding a $32,000 bag in the
tunnel leading to his secret lair

Footage of his wife seems to show her entering the tunnel to the
lair, carrying a Birkin bag, the day before
the horrendous tragedy. She is seen appearing to smile at the camera

Sinwar, days after he was killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Sunday,
Oct. 20, 2024

Goldberg-Polin lost his arm when a grenade exploded during the carnage.

'We saw the six hostages killed when Israel was entering the tunnel.
That could be the case now. We just don't know,' Baskin said.

US probing 'leaked Israeli documents' which 'indicate Britain's involvement in a deadly plot'

He said the return of the hostages depended entirely on whether
Israel is able to make a deal with Hamas.

'It's a moment of opportunity where Israel should be issuing a very clear call that anyone
who's holding a hostage that releases them will be given free passage for themselves and their family out of Gaza to another country, as well
as a lot of money.

'In order to encourage them to do that, Israel should also be reaching out to Egypt and Qatar and tell them to renew the negotiations quickly, not on the deal that's
been negotiated without success for almost four months, but on a deal
that would bring the hostages home quicker and would obviously require Israel to end the war.'

He said a deal would likely mean the release of Palestinian prisoners,
a controversial point for many Israelis who believe that their release would simply lead to
another October 7-style attack in the future.

A Yemeni man looks at an artwork depicting the Hamas' Political Bureau Head Yahya Sinwar

Sinwar's lair, discovered by Israeli soldiers in the Tel al-Sultan area, was well-resourced, with food, water and other supplies to
help him survive for months underground

These are the disquieting images that show Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar
was callously hiding out in relative comfort from his underground lair as he ordered his terror group to carry out the bloodiest massacre
Israel has ever endured

But Baskin said it was a mistake to think like this:
'October 7 wasn't because of Sinwar. [It] was
because we're occupying another people for 56 years without enabling them to ever believe that they're going to
be free, or locking two million people in Gaza under poverty and telling them that they'll
never be able to leave Gaza.'

Hamas 'will keep new leader's identity SECRET to avoid another assassination'

He said he hoped the deadly attack would ultimately force Israelis
to 'confront the fallacy of basing its policies, vis-à-vis the
Palestinians, on military force'.

'For Palestinians, the lessons learned must, first and foremost, be that there should no longer
be an armed struggle as part of their liberation strategy.

'Right or wrong, the armed struggle primarily brings death and destruction.'

He added: 'Every person living between the
river and the sea must have the same right to the same rights.

'From that principle, we can move forward. Freedom, self-determination, security, and dignity
for all.'

All six senior members of the new federal
anti-corruption watchdog have accepted Qantas Chairman's Lounge memberships
as calls grow to refer Anthony Albanese over the perks he took
from the airline.

Gift disclosure logs for the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) leadership positions show commissioners are all part of Australia's 'most exclusive club' the Chairman's Lounge membership extended by invite only by
the Qantas chair.

This has raised concerns over how impartial the body would be when dealing with Qantas matters.

If Mr Albanese has requested flight upgrades from former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce directly,
as reported in a new book, he may have fallen foul of the
strict Ministerial Code of Conduct which prohibits ministers from seeking 'any kind of benefit'

Commissioner Paul Brereton declared Chairman's
Lounge membership in 2023, as did the CEO Philip Reed and deputy commissioners Jaala Hinchcliffe and Nicole Rose, Sky News reported on Wednesday.

Deputy commissioners Ben Gauntlett and Kylie Kilgour declared their membership in February 2024, which means it was
after the NACC began operation in July 2023.

An NACC spokesperson confirmed the Commissioner,
three deputy commissioners and CEO are members of the Chairman's

'This does not impact the integrity of the Commission,'
the spokesman said.

'Each of the statutory office holders has made appropriate declarations in regards to Chairman's lounge membership in the NACC Gifts and

'Qantas is not a Commonwealth agency within the Commission's jurisdiction.'

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and his deputy Sussan Ley
have said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the NACC over 22 upgrades and extra Chairman's Lounge memberships received from Qantas.

An insight into the type of service offered by the
Chairman's Lounges was offered by a job ad posted
on employment site Indeed for the one at Canberra Airport.

The ad, placed by hotel group Accor that Qantas contracts to run the lounges,
stated they were seeking 'a highly motivated Food &

Applicants must 'have experience working in a fine dining environment and the ability to work a seven- day rotating roster.

The claims Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy when booking Qantas flight by personally requesting them from Mr Joyce are made in a new book The Chairman's Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe
Aston.

Aston alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs, which included Minister for Transport to ask for special upgrades that only the CEO could dole out for himself
or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas 'insiders' 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were 'privately funded' and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu.

The book also revealed that as well as son Nathan having a 'plus one' Chairman's Lounge membership
Mr Albanese's partner Jodie Haydon did as well.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that all were 'declared in the appropriate way'.

Joaquin Phoenix has revealed that he spoke with filmmaker Christopher Nolan about playing Joker
which ultimately went to Heath Ledger.

The 50-year-old actor - whose latest flick Joker:
Folie À Deux could be streamed now - got candid about potentially playing the supervillain before he actually portrayed him.

Joaquin recently appeared on Rick Rubin's Tetragrammaton podcast as he revealed that he spoke to the 54-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker Nolan about portraying Joker over a decade before.

He said: That didn't… wasn't going to happen for a number of reasons.
I wasn't ready then.

'That's one of those things sometimes where you go: "Why am I not doing this project? What is stopping me from doing this? Well it's not about me, there's something else. There's another person that's going to do something that's like, I can't imagine what it would be if we didn't have Heath Ledger‘s performance in that film."'

Joker: Folie À Deux heading to streaming after box office flop

In 2020, Joaquin earned the Best Lead Actor Oscar for Todd
Phillips directed Joker which was 11 years after Ledger posthumously
earned Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight in 2009.

Joaquin continued: 'I don't know whether Christopher Nolan was coming to me saying, "You are definitely the person."

'I can't remember the context of how we met. But I know that we met, and my feeling was, "I shouldn't do this." But maybe he also was
like, "You're not the guy." I couldn't say.'

Heath died in a New York City apartment on January 22, 2008, after accidentally overdosing following months of physical and mental exhaustion.

The Dark Knight actor died aged 28 after taking a fatal
cocktail of drugs, leaving behind his daughter, who was two years
old at the time.

Meanwhile Joker: Folie À Deux can now be streamed,
just weeks after its theatrical release.

The movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is now available to rent from home starting October 29, in an effort to
recoup some of Warner Bros. investment into the
film, as per Variety.

The musical, which bombed at the box office, is 'poised
to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run' according to the publication.

Terrifier 3 dethrones Joker: Folie À Deux as box office champ

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100
million on marketing and distribution, according to the report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to
break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner
Bros. sources claim the number is $375 million.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the
report, saying 'Any estimates suggested by anonymous "insiders" or "rival executives" are grossly wrong and continues
a trend where rumor is reported as fact.'

'The film continues to play in theatrical release, included
with this week's opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.'

So far, the musical about Batman's nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and
$165 million globally after two weeks of release.

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and
$248.4 million globally after three days of release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning
film was considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics and
failed to ignite at the box office.

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history
as the film bombed at the box office on opening night.

The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as 'bleak' and 'disappointing' —
officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4.

Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel, which had earned him an Oscar for
his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel
(Harley Quinn).

However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest
score for a comic book movie.

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received terrible
reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of 31% and a critic score of 32%.

The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical and 'ignoring' the DC fanbase - with an agent familiar with director Todd Phillips' process telling Variety he 'wanted nothing to do with DC'
during the making of the film, with DC bosses James Gunn
and Peter Safran notably absent from the film's LA premiere afterparty
last month.

A source said: 'If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy
in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million] worldwide.

Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was Joker.'

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not
include a DC Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end
of the Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that
Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed 'unwilling' to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would 'only' speak with DeLuca and Abdy
rather than Gunn and Safran - who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker
2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director's cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter: 'With all due respect to them, this is
kind of a Warner Bros. movie.'

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery
merged in April 2022 and was 'open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make
the sequel at a lower price point.'

The studio wanted to film in London which
would have cost around 20 per cent less.

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio 'supported the decision to film in Los Angeles'.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice
Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back - with a Warner spokesman saying
the studio 'fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice.

Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.

‘Tis the season of hosiery. Paired with a mini skirt and a sequin blazer (we're looking at you, Selena Gomez), or styled
with a little black dress and a pair of killer heels (à la
Alexa Chung at the Fashion Awards), tights and stockings are a great way to add style
- and perhaps an extra layer of warmth - to your outfits during the autumn and winter
months.

From matte to glossy, opaque to sheer, and black to skin-toned
shades, there's a lot more to consider than just the denier number when it comes to picking
out a pair of classic tights. And then, of course, there is also patterned hosiery (think
delicate designs like a back seam, polka dots or lace detailing)
to elevate your winter style.

‘Tis the season of hosiery

In 2024, tights should no longer be an obligation but a fashion choice.

Google searches for ‘tights' are up by 115% since the temperatures first
dropped, and at high-street favourite M&S two pairs
are sold every minute. So what styles are we buying?

The top spot is claimed by the retailer's 60 Denier Body Sensor Tights
(a handy three-pack that sells for just £8 and is available in a black, navy and brown).
The 40 Denier Body Sensor Tights (£8 for a three-pack) are second
favourite, followed by the 30 Denier Body Sensor Tights (£8 for a three-pack).

The fourth most popular pair is the 60 Denier Magicwear Opaque
Tights (£14 for a two-pack), and the top five is rounded out by the 100 Denier Magicwear Opaque Tights (£14 for a two-pack).

These are the number one selling tights at Marks & Spencer

M&S believes the decision between opaque and sheer tights should
be based on the formality of our outfit. ‘Opaque black tights will
go with basically everything. Often said to clash with black;
blue or brown hues are also an option.'

‘Sheer tights are great for more formal occasions and warmer temperatures, as they provide a lighter and more breathable option,' the high street giant added.

‘You can achieve that elegant, barely-there look with a little extra coverage.'

Similarly, intricate patterns, logos and glitter are best suited for evening looks,
says M&S. ‘For a daytime or office look, stick with polka dots or diamond patterned tights, or if
you're looking for some added cosiness, try cable-knit tights
for some subtle texture.'

prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, understanding the impact of green spaces on cardiovascular
health is crucial. The findings of this study shed light on the potential benefits of green spaces
in mitigating cardiovascular risk factors and provide insights for
policymakers to create healthier environments in cities.

Research Methodology
The study involved a diverse sample population of residents
in Madrid, comprising both males and females across different age groups.
The researchers collected data on cardiovascular risk factors, such as
hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, and obesity. Additionally, they measured the density of green spaces in different neighborhoods of Madrid to assess the association between green spaces and cardiovascular health.

Gender Differences in the Relationship
The research revealed an interesting gender difference in the relationship between green spaces and cardiovascular risk factors.
While there was a moderate association between green spaces and cardiovascular risk factors for females,
the same association was not observed for males. This suggests that green spaces may have a
more significant impact on the cardiovascular health of
women compared to men in urban environments.

Cardiovascular Risk Factors Association with
Green Spaces

Hypertension Positive association for females

Diabetes No significant association observed

High Cholesterol Positive association for females

Obesity No significant association observed
This gender-specific association highlights the need for tailored interventions
and urban planning strategies to address cardiovascular health disparities between men and women. By creating more green spaces and ensuring equitable access, cities
can promote better cardiovascular health outcomes for all residents.

Implications for Urban Environments
These findings have significant implications for urban planners, policymakers, and healthcare professionals.
Incorporating green spaces into urban design can contribute to reducing cardiovascular risk factors
and improving overall heart health, particularly for women. The presence of green spaces allows for physical activity, stress reduction,

Influence of Neighborhood Characteristics on Physical Activity
When it comes to the physical activity of university students, the impact of neighborhood
characteristics cannot be overlooked. A study conducted by Molina-García et al.
delved into the role that neighborhood-built environments play in influencing
physically active and sedentary behaviors among university students.

The findings of the study revealed fascinating associations between neighborhood
characteristics and various aspects of physical activity.

Let's take a closer look at some of the key findings:

The neighborhood-built environment was found to have a significant
influence on active commuting. Students living in neighborhoods with better walkability and available transportation options were more
likely to engage in active commuting such as walking or biking to campus.

Leisure-time physical activity was also affected
by neighborhood characteristics. Students living in neighborhoods with access to
recreational facilities or green spaces were more likely to engage in physical activities during their free time, fostering a healthier lifestyle.

Sedentary behavior, on the other hand, was more prevalent among students residing
in neighborhoods with limited walkability or inadequate recreational
spaces. This highlights the importance of creating neighborhoods that promote physical activity and discourage sedentary behaviors.

These findings underscore the significance of designing university residential environments that foster physically active behaviors among students.
By prioritizing walkability, providing accessible transportation options, and ensuring the availability of recreational spaces, universities can create environments that nudge students
towards a more active lifestyle.

To summarize, neighborhood characteristics have a substantial influence on the physical activity patterns of university
students. By designing neighborhoods that promote physical activity
and discourage sedentary behaviors, universities
can nurture a culture of health and wellness among their student population.

The Association between Open Spaces and Renal Function
In densely populated urban areas, the availability of open spaces plays a crucial role in promoting human health
and well-being. Chien et al. conducted a study that specifically focused on the association between open spaces and renal function in adults.
The findings shed light on the positive impact of open spaces on renal health,
particularly in individuals without hypertension or impaired fasting glucose.

The study revealed a lower prevalence of chronic kidney disease among adults residing in close proximity to open spaces in Taiwan. This suggests that the
presence of open spaces in urban environments may contribute to better
renal function and a decreased risk of developing kidney-related health issues.

To further analyze the relationship between open spaces and renal function,
Chien et al. employed a variety of measures and assessments.
The study considered factors such as the size and accessibility of open spaces, as well as their influence
on the overall health of individuals. By examining the
connection between urban open spaces and renal function, important insights were gained into the potential benefits these spaces offer
to human physiology and well-being.

"The results of our study highlight the importance of integrating open spaces into urban design and city planning. By prioritizing the creation and preservation of open spaces, policymakers and urban developers can contribute to the well-being of residents, reducing the burden of chronic kidney disease and promoting a healthier society."

These findings have significant implications for urban areas worldwide, where the
population density often limits access to green spaces.
By strategically incorporating open spaces into the urban landscape, cities can create
environments that support renal health and enhance the quality of life
for their residents.

Open Spaces and Renal Health: A Promising Approach
The positive association between open spaces and renal
function opens up opportunities for further research and exploration. By delving deeper
into the mechanisms behind this relationship, scientists and healthcare professionals can develop evidence-based interventions
to optimize renal health in urban areas.

With the growing prevalence of chronic kidney disease worldwide, the role of open spaces in supporting renal function becomes even more
critical. Creating an environment that fosters healthy renal
outcomes through the provision of open spaces can contribute to the overall well-being of individuals
and communities.

Urban planners, architects, and policymakers should
consider these findings when designing and developing urban areas.
By incorporating open spaces into the fabric of cities, we can create healthier environments that promote renal
function and improve the quality of life for countless individuals.

Benefits of Open Spaces on Renal Function Evidence

Promotes renal health Lower prevalence of chronic kidney
disease among adults in close proximity to open spaces.

health problems.

Enhances overall well-being Creating healthier environments through open spaces improves
the quality of life for residents.

Restorative Effects of Urban and Forest Settings
When it comes to creating spaces that promote well-being, the choice
between urban settings and forest settings can have a significant impact.
Takayama et al. conducted a study comparing the restorative effects of these two environments on individuals, and the results were quite revealing.

According to the research, forest settings have been found to
possess higher restorative properties compared to urban settings.
This means that spending time in nature, surrounded by trees,
plants, and fresh air, can offer greater psychological and physiological benefits.

Forest therapy, a form of nature-based therapy, has gained popularity
in recent years for its ability to enhance mental
and emotional well-being. The serene atmosphere and natural elements of a forest setting have been shown to
alleviate stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve overall
mood.

Physiological benefits have also been observed in individuals exposed to forest settings.
Studies have demonstrated reductions in blood pressure, heart rate, and
cortisol levels, indicating a positive impact on the body's stress response
system.

Forest settings have higher restorative properties than urban settings, showcasing greater psychological and physiological benefits.

This research opens up opportunities for further investigation into the relationship between forest settings and individual traits.
By understanding how different people respond to nature,
tailored forest experience programs can be developed to
optimize the psychological health of urban dwellers.

Comparing the Restorative Effects of Urban and Forest Settings:

Urban Settings Forest Settings

Psychological Benefits Less pronounced Greater

Physiological Benefits Limited impact Reduced blood
pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels
The table above summarizes the comparisons between urban and
forest settings in terms of their restorative effects. While urban settings may provide some benefits,
the profound impact of forest settings on psychological and physiological
well-being cannot be denied.

These findings emphasize the importance of incorporating nature into urban environments
and ensuring easy access to green spaces. Design interventions that bring elements of
the natural world into cities can help enhance
the well-being of residents and create more restorative
urban settings.

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as he
battles claims the Qantas boss was his 'personal travel agent' for free
flights and upgrades.

However that characterization of the relationship was
at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was 'good mates' with Mr
Albanese and had been 'for years'.

In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free
tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.

When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese
implied it was purely in a professional capacity, having
been Transport Minister and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming
Prime Minister.

'He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline ... I had the same relationship with
him that I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,' Mr Albanese said.

That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese
and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other's company.

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet
at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last year.

In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with
one arm around the prime minister and the other around
Mr Albanese's partner, Jodie Haydon.

Just five months later, in August, a smiling
Mr Albanese attended Qantas's unveiling of it's special 'Yes 23' emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.

Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce jovially walked the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around his partner, Jodie Haydon for
a special anniversary event last year

Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese's arm, with the PM bursting
into laughter.

Even when Scott Morrison was PM,  Mr Joyce
enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr Albanese as the
pair stood close together at the launch
of the Qantas' landmark Perth to London flight in March, 2018.

During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said he had been 'friends
for years' with Mr Albanese.

Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese's son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman's
Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.

'I've been good mates with Albo for some time,' Mr Joyce said.

However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied
the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock
competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic routes.

It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman's Lounge,
by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms
Haydon is also a Chairman's Lounge member.

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce also appeared to greatly enjoying each other's company at  a Qantas event in August last year

Anthony Albanese fires up and launches a brutal personal attack
on book author

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades
from economy from Qantas and he would liaise personally
with the former airline boss for them.

Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce
while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself
or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas 'insiders' 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were 'privately funded' and included overseas trips to
Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes
and all were 'declared in the appropriate way'.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr
Albanese as being the 'best friend' of Mr Joyce.

Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was 'strange' Mr Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.

'If you're the Transport Minister and you're picking up the phone to one of the most important stakeholders
in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would be able to answer those questions more effectively
than anyone else because I'm not aware of anyone else having
done it,' Mr Dutton said.

It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of the Qantas Chairman's Lounge

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press
conference in the NSW city of Newcastle.

'The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were not discussed through
calls - we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,
' he said.

'I've declared everything in accordance with
all of the rules.'

Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he
was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.

'I am very comfortable with my sourcing,' Aston said.

Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr
Joyce's lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was 'implausible' to think that
the Prime Minister's office had nothing to do with the decision.

Mr Albanese's son Nathan, 24, has reportedly also been granted access to the Qantas Chairman's Lounge (pictured, Mr Albanese and
son Nathan in May, 2022)

'It's very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese government that would not go through the
Prime Minister's office,' Aston replied.

He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market
Qatar had seemingly been sailing through with Transport
Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the proposal until 'everything changed'
to stop it dead in tracks.

Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.

Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday that
he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has  questioned the alleged
personal requests Mr Albanese made to Mr Joyce  while
in his various parliamentary jobs

Even when Scott Morrison was prime minister, Mr Joyce appeared to have
a close relationship with Mr Albanese (the pair
are pictured at an event in 2019)

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr
Joyce as 'basically Albanese's personal travel agent.'

'This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They'd never be able to afford the luxury of business
class. It's out of our reach,' she said.

'Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he's
been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades
to business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister under a cloud.

'Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also
politically lethal. Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a
housing commission boy who made it. But now the perception is
cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public office.'

Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese's  apparent close relationship with
Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by
sacking 1700 staff during Covid.

The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by
the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts.

The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender
in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil Mitchell.

'Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,' Mitchell wrote on X.

'But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as a bestie?

Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.'

WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN'S CLUB?

The Qantas Chairman's Lounge is an invitation-only
club approved by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.

It has been dubbed ¿the most exclusive club in the country¿ and comes with a
distinct black card.

Members include senior-ranking MPs including ministers, state premiers and the Prime Minister, leaders
of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and
high-profile media personalities.

The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide but
are not signed, you have to know where to look.

Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings,
wool carpet and marble flooring all bathed in natural light.

Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines.
Wine bottles are often given as departing gift

Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.

Members may bring in two guests at a time.

Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is to board and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.
Membership also entitles you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) - The yuan was little changed on Friday against the dollar, but is headed
for its tenth straight weekly loss amid concerns that new tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump
will heighten strains on the struggling Chinese economy.

Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump's policies are expected to drive up U.S.
inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
"We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment," Lynn Song, Greater China chief economist at ING, said in a note.

However, "we don't expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies." The yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar
around midday, little moved from the previous close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low of 7.2996 hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register
its longest weekly losing streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and "the USD's consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building" in the yuan,
aided by ongoing attempts by China's central
bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist at RBC Capital Markets.

Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China's economic recovery, with
manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China's "economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature," said John Browning,
managing director of BANDS Financial.

He doesn't expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week's Central Economic Work Conference,
as "Beijing's largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins." Top policymakers will gather at the
conference to agree on major economic goals for next year.

But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators globally
for clues of Beijing's near-term policy intentions, likely will
not be officially announced until an annual parliament meeting
in March. During Trump's first term as president, the yuan weakened about 5% against the dollar after
the initial round of U.S.

tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade
tensions escalated. Growth worries and expectations of
further monetary easing by Beijing pushed China's 10-year treasury
yields below 2% to record lows this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the U.S., and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING's Song expects the onshore
yuan to move within a band between 7.00-7.40 per dollar, but could
fall further to 7.50 "if tariffs come in earlier or more aggressive than our forecasts." LEVELS AT 03:47 GMT GMT
